We are MOCHI, the Southern
Michigan Northern Ohio Local Special Interest Group in Computer
Human Interaction (SIGCHI) of the Association
for Computing Machinery. The scope of our chapter is broadly defined
to include assessment, design, evaluation and implementation of computing
technology to facilitate work, education, entertainment and social interaction.
Our chapter is organized for educational and scientific purposes to promote
the following: increased knowledge of and greater interest in the development
and ethical application of human-centered principles to drive the science
and implementation of modern computing technologies. The point is to be
"user centered" in all design and development, and to promote scientific
advancement to inform design principles.
Our membership comes from both academia and
industry. Some members have years of experience in the field of Human
Computer Interaction, while others are interested in learning how to apply
these principles to their own fields.
Our monthly meetings, with speakers on specific
topics, also provide an opportunity for the community to learn from each
other in a casual environment.
