MSI Degree: Practical Engagement Program
The Practical Engagement Program (PEP) combines knowledge and skills to solve specific information problems in professional settings. PEP enables -- and requires -- you to couple what you have learned in the classroom with what you observe and experience elsewhere.
You need to earn a portion of your 48 MSI credits as practical engagement credits (a.k.a., "PEP points").
- Students who entered the program before Fall 2008:
You must earn at least six but no more than 15 PEP credits.
- Students who entered the program Fall 2008 or later:
You must earn at least eight but no more than 15 PEP credits.
These may be earned in a variety of ways. Several SI courses include a practical engagement component and earn you PEP credits. You may also earn PEP credits via approved, credit-based internships. The School assists you in finding summer internships that can earn you PEP credits.
Learn more about the practical engagement component of an MSI degree in the Fieldwork: Practical Engagement Program section of this site.
Program requirements on this page are current for the 2008-2009 academic year.
