P&G is a global consumer products company providing personal care products, food and beverages, and paper products.

Project Objectives

  • Complete usability testing on new version of the Virtual Library website
  • Help launch OpenURL technology
  • Assist with research via the Virtual Reference desk
  • Implement system for tracking usage data on electronic resources

Learning Objectives


  • Gain experience with and knowledge of usability issues in library portals
  • Gain experience with and knowledge of openURL technology
  • Gain experience with and knowledge of business reference resources, and
  • Gain experience with data tracking

Project Outcomes


I determined a number of ways to improve the library website. I completed many research reports and improved my understanding of business research resources, particularly Factiva and Nexis. My coworkers provided me with valuable insights into both the company and field. The experience was extremely valuable and rewarding.
