The ITU, headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland is an international organization within the United Nations System where governments and the private sector coordinate global telecom networks and services.
Project Objectives
- Improve the usability and functionality of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) stocktaking database
- Implement ITIL (IT Infrastructure Library) Principles of Service Management at the User Services Department
- Research and promote the use of collaborative software for ITU projects

- Gain knowledge of ASP, Microsoft SQL server and other web-development tools used at the ITU
- Learn about ITIL Principles of IT Service Management and about processes involved in service management
- Have the experience of working in an international organization

Project Outcomes
I was involved in working on the WSIS stocktaking database, one of the world's largest databases, containing projects fostering the development of the information society and the implementation of the WSIS Declaration of Principles and Plan of Action. As the WSIS stocktaking is a continuous process and the database remains open for all new submissions, we had to increase its attractiveness and improve the user-friendliness of the environment.
