Email

The Usability Support and Evaluation Lab assists faculty in applying technology for innovative teaching and learning. The USE Lab supports the development and implementation of new instructional products and projects

Project Objectives

  • Be a member of the University of Michigan's Quality Assurance (QA) team in the coming version of Sakai
  • Be a member of the Quality COntrol (QC) team in testing CTools
  • Plan and implement QC activities
  • Use automated tools for feature and load testing
  • Create a visual map of the product

Learning Objectives

  • Gain practical skills as well as theoretical knowledge about QA/QC concepts within the software development cycle
  • Learn an automated testing software to improve the efforts of the QC team
  • Put in practice knowledge gained from classes, specifically SI622 - Evaluation of Systems and Services

Project Outcomes

I was very pleased with my internship and with my contribution to the QC team. Finding and fixing bugs before the release of the product and providing suggestions on how to improve the product were very rewarding. I left with a better understanding of open-source projects and understanding of issues they face.
