The University of Michigan Office of Technology Transfer is the unit responsible for the transfer of University technology to the marketplace. They provide professional services to ensure that results of University research are transferred to outside partners and produce benefits for the University, communities and the general public.

Project Objectives

  • Perform market research, competitive analysis, and usability analysis of the ClinfoTracker
  • Evaluate the marketability of the ClinfoTracker using various analysis methods
  • Evaluate the viability of this software in different market segments to decide on which segments to pursue for further consideration and possible sales for the ClinfoTracker
  • Research the market for potential uses of Incept
  • Research the animal reproduction market to evaluate the market size and need for the Incept technology
  • Research a secondary market (cellular research) for Incept
  • Present findings at the end to the primary researchers as to what area(s) of the market would make a good target customer for Incept
  • Research and evaluate a number of markets for Biphasic Nanoparticles in order to decide on a few to further explore
  • Assess each market for the possible applications of the biphasic nanoparticle technology

Learning Objectives


  • Gain knowledge of product marketing and licensing issues
  • Gain knowledge of how to conduct a needs assessment and surveys
  • Gain knowledge of how to bring all the information together and help the projects reach completion

Project Outcomes


I provided market research to support the offering of ClinfoTracker to various entrepreneurs. Due to the data I gathered, Incept chose not to enter the animal breeding market at this time.
