Michael Elledge (MSI '01)


Michael Elledge

Before SI: Earned a BS in economics from Vassar and an MBA from Columbia, then went on to a 20-year career in advertising. Among his campaign work: Ford's "Quality is Job 1" and GM's "Mr. Goodwrench."

At SI: Among his projects: evaluating the way information was used by a resident council at a housing project, evaluating the usability of the Cypriot Web site Kypros.net, and developing the architecture for U-M's Michigan Community Scholars Program Web site.

Held an internship with Enlighten, an Internet services firm, working as a strategist doing competitor and industry analysis for clients. Has continued his working relationship with Enlighten into the academic year.

After SI: Following graduation, worked at the U-M Duderstadt Center doing usability testing and Web site development for technology assessment and learning technologies. His career interests are in the areas of Internet strategy and information architecture. Now is assistant director of the Usability & Accessibility Center at Michigan State University. The UAC's goal is to understand how the needs and aspirations of people are reflected in communication technologies, and to make assistive, information, and computer technologies as accessible and usable as possible for as many people as possible. The UAC advocates for the development of accessible interface technologies for people with disabilities.
