Victor Rosenberg is an associate professor in the School of Information.
During the fall 1998 and winter 1999 semesters, Rosenberg served in Washington, D.C., as a fellow of the Computing Research Association. The fellowship program, which was arranged by the Office of the Vice President of the United States, provided expert policy analysis to the government on issues involving technology and small businesses and projects involving electronic commerce. Rosenberg served with the Office of Technology Policy in the Department of Commerce.
Before coming to Michigan, he was a professor of library science at the University of California at Berkeley.
His interests include information retrieval, information policy, technology in the humanities, Brazil, and entrepreneurship.
Rosenberg was the founder and CEO of Personal Bibliographic Software, Inc., the developer of ProCite and BiblioLink software products. In June 1996 the company was sold to the Institute for Scientific Information, a subsidiary of the Thomson Corporation of Research Information Systems, Inc. of Carlsbad, California.
Rosenberg serves on the Board of Directors of the University Center for Research on Learning and Teaching; the Institute of Continuing Legal Education; and the University Faculty Senate Assembly, representing the School of Information. He also is active in professional societies, including ASIS and ALA. Most recently he chaired the nominating committee for LITA. He also serves on two NISO Standards Committees.
