Bio/Research Statement:
Prior to attending SI, I was the Microsoft Research Fellow at the Berkeley Center for Law and Technology, UC Berkeley School of Law.

Current Research:
My current research focuses on the interplay of law, university policies, and faculty attitudes and practices, and how these operate in the context of open access education.

Recent Publications:
  • 2009: Presented the paper "Open Educational Resources and the University: Law, Technology, and Magical Thinking" at the 37th annual Research Conference on Communication, Information and Internet Policy (TPRC), George Mason Law School. Bobby Glushko co-author/presenter.
  • 2006: Presented the paper "Copyright Implications of Commercial Skipping" at the Intellectual Property Scholars' Conference (IPSC), UC Berkeley School of Law.

Jennifer Lee and son Aiden

Cal Lee (MSI '99, Ph.D. '05) is now an assistant professor at the University of North Carolina. At SI he distinguished himself with his research in the archives and records management field. In 2002, Lee was the first winner of the Paul Evan Peters Fellowship for graduate study in the information sciences or librarianship. The award is sponsored by the Coalition for Networked Information and "recognizes not only outstanding scholarship and intellectual rigor, but also civic responsibility, democratic values, and imagination, honoring the memory of CNI founding executive director Paul Evan Peters."
