SI Alternative Spring Break 2001

For a third year, School of Information graduate students spent their Spring Break (Feb 26 - March 2) in service at a variety of institutions.

This year 13 students from SI were joined by an archives grad student from Wayne State University. They worked at five institutions and organizations in Washington, D.C. The SI students came from each of the schools degree areas: Archives and Records Management, Library and Information Services, Human-Computer Interaction, and Information Economics, Management and Policy.

Below is a list of the work sites and a link to more information describing the projects accomplished at each.

The School of Information's Alternative Spring Break is open to graduate students studying at the School of Information. The School covers costs associated with student travel and lodging through the Kellogg II grant supporting Practical Engagement Programs and Academic Outreach.

Undergraduates looking for Alternative Spring Break opportunities should look into the University of Michigan Alternative Spring Break program administered by U-M's Ginsberg Center.

The Project Director of Alternative Spring Break at SI is
Professor Maurita P. Holland and the project manager is Kari R. Smith.
