The World Resources Institute, located in Washington D.C. is a think-tank for environmental policy.

"World Resources Institute provides information, ideas, and solutions to global environmental problems. Our mission is to move human society to live in ways that protect Earth’s environment for current and future generations. Our program meets global challenges by using knowledge to catalyze public and private action." -- from the WRI web page About WRI

Michael Krot and Sameer Patil, SI graduate students, worked with WRI's Connectivity Department on Internet and Intranet related projects during ASB2001.

Info Center analyst B. Milton and M. Krot at WRIKrot checked and updated hundreds of links in the WRI Internet website and also researched and evaluated global ISP's for WRI's staff.

Patil researched the web for an effective groupware integrated office solution. By the end of the week he had written report describing:

  • The advantages and disadvantages of taking the customizable vs ASP route
  • A list of pages providing comparative and descriptive information about various existing groupware solutions along with ratings for various features of the solution
  • Three recommendations for solutions, which he thinks WRI should explore further. Sameer Patil
