ASB 2005
Acknowledgments
Direction
Alternative Spring Break 2005 was administered, as usual, by the Office
of Academic Outreach at the School of Information, under the direction
of Professor Maurita Holland.
Peter Keller-Transburg coordinated ASB
2005.
Fundraising
An energetic group of students committed itself to raising funds
for ASB 2005. In January, the group put on the impressively successful SI
Revue, a variety concert highlighting the many artistic talents of
SI students, faculty and staff. Ticket sales for this event raised $1600.
The group also waged an SI-all Penny
War, which saw the SI community battle it out and raise a shocking
$1,024! Due to their success, both of these events seem
destined to become SI traditions in years ahead.
All of the student-led fundraising
efforts for ASB 2005 were matched
dollar-for-dollar from the
School
of
Information
’s Olive Webb Memorial Matching Fund, with a total amount generated of
over $5,500. Many thanks to the entire ASB Fundraising Team:

Logistics
ASB couldn't happen without
the dedicated efforts of the Logistics Team over the course of many months
before and after the ASB week. The following team members spent
considerable time calling potential host organizations, defining project
descriptions, coordinating transportation and accommodations arrangements,
summarizing the feedback from ASB participants, creating this web record
of the experience, and many other thankless tasks. For your hard work to
pull off the BIGgest ASB ever, you are acknowledged!!

Organizations and Supervisors
ASB owes a big debt of
gratitude to the 24 organizations and over 60 host organization staff
members who took the time to host ASB participants. Thanks especially to
the ASB participant supervisors who made ASB 2005 a meaningful and
enjoyable experience for the 70 students!
Photos
All of the photos on this
site were freely provided by a variety of ASB participants who used
personal and SI-issued cameras to capture their ASB experiences. Special
thanks for photos go to Sarah McNitt, Olga Khroustaleva, Mike Chmura,
Leslie Knoblauch, Rasika Ramesh, Andy Peterson, Devon Persing and Ricah Marquez.
Web
The ASB 2005 web pages were
created by Peter Keller-Transburg and Ricah Marquez, with content
contributions from members of the Logistics team. Special thanks for web
and graphics contributions from Steve Cotterill (new ASB logo) and
Nick
Baker (SI Revue and Penny War pages).
