"Would You Like to Play a Game? -- A Review of Challenges and Current Practice in the Collection and Preservation of Videogames"

Speakers: Megan Winget
Description: Megan Winget is an assistant professor at the School of Information at the University of Texas at Austin. She received her doctorate in information and library science in from the University of North Carolina. Her presentation will review the major methods and theories regarding the preservation of new media artifacts, such as videogames, and will examine the major videogame collections in the United States, Europe, and Japan to give an idea of the current state of videogame archives. She argues for a fuller, more comprehensive coverage of these materials in institutional repositories.

All are invited to attend. To promote in-depth intellectual engagement during the seminar, all are encouraged to read Winget's paper in advance . Lunch will be served, beginning at 11:45 a.m.
