SI Faculty Research Seminars

Title: Faculty Candidate Talk:
"Perfect-Substitutes, Best-Shot, and Weakest-Link Contests Between Groups"
Time: Noon-1:00 PM
Date: Fri, January 30, 2009
Location: Ehrlicher Room, 411 West Hall (in person)
1202 SI North (videocast)
Speakers: Roman M. Sheremeta
Description: Roman Sheremeta is a doctoral candidate in economics at the Purdue University Krannert School of Management. His research interests lie in the fields of experimental and behavioral economics, industrial organization, public economics, and political economy. He will discuss his research into different lottery contests between two groups. Among this findings were that each group has two types of players: one strong player with a higher valuation for the prize and two weak players with lower valuations. The results indicate that individual behavior depends upon a player's type and the contest rules.

All are invited to attend. To promote in-depth intellectual engagement during the seminar, all are encouraged to read Sheremeta's paper in advance . Lunch will be served, beginning at 11:45 a.m.
