Non-commercially produced postcards
differ in form from those manufactured by large publishing companies.
These cards were manufactured locally and were photographically
printed instead of being mechanically printed. Any text that was
to appear on the final card was hand written on the negative.
This text usually identified the location of the scene. It would
appear as white text in one of the lower corners of the cards,
while the verso of the card would often be stamped with a line,
dividing the space vertically. Sometimes lines on which the address
would be written were also stamped on the verso. Usually only
a very limited number of these cards were produced as they were
of interest to a local audience only.
