Diversity, Equity and Inclusion awards

The UMSI Diversity Committee established two new awards in fall 2016 to recognize contributions to UMSI's goals for advancing diversity, equity & inclusion (DE&I) and in particular, our DE&I strategic plan.

The first award is the UMSI Award for Impact in Diversity, Equity & Inclusion which may be awarded to up to three individuals (or groups) in a given year. The second award is the UMSI Award for Impact in Gender Diversity in Information & Technology which will go to one individual (or group) in a given year.

These new awards seek to recognize outstanding individuals or groups in the School of Information who have demonstrated their commitment to improving diversity, equity, & inclusion. These awards are open to all current UMSI students, faculty and staff.

Award recipients receive $500 and are announced on the UMSI web site. Recipient names are also added to a DE&I Award plaque which will be displayed on UMSI's award wall on the third floor of North Quad.

Each fall the UMSI Diversity Committee will inform the UMSI community about these awards. Please carefully consider the nomination criteria below and plan to nominate someone you believe to be a good fit. Self-nominations are welcome. Nominations will be prompted each winter semester with award decisions announced at the end of the winter semester.
