UMSI DE&I Strategic Plan and Implementation

A group of 50 UMSI faculty, staff, and students gathered for a half day retreat on April 6, 2017 to develop and discuss ideas and strategies for implementing UMSI’s Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Strategic Plan.

To strengthen UMSI's commitment to increase the diversity of our school and make its environment welcoming to everyone, in 2013 UMSI developed a diversity statement and a series of goals to be worked toward over the next five to seven years. In coordination with the University’s Strategic Plan for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, we expanded our vision in 2016 with our five year UMSI Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Strategic Plan.

We are completing year one of the strategic plan implementation, and this summer will publish a report outlining UMSI’s progress against the first year goals stated in the plan along with a set of second year goals to continue moving us forward. These documents will be posted here with notification to the UMSI community via email.

To build greater awareness of the core aspects of the plan we developed an executive summary of the UMSI DEI strategic plan including our 5-year DEI strategic objectives and measures of success and a framework for the implementation cycle supporting the plan.
