The School of Information offers the opportunity to apply for readmission to students who were in good academic standing (3.0 or better) when they left the program and have been gone for more than 12 months.
To apply, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org to request a link to the online application and then follow the instructions included in the application. You will need to submit the application in full. Applicants may inquire as to whether older materials may be used for some parts of the application.
Note that all readmit applicants will need to include a brief explanation as to why they left the program and why now is a good time for them to return to the program. This should be included in either the statement of purpose or personal statement.
If readmitted, the student's transcript will be evaluated to determine what previous coursework can be applied toward the degree. Examples of reasons for previous coursework no longer counting toward a degree could include if a course has undergone significant curricular changes, or, for a technology-related course, how relevant the technology is today.
Note: UMSI offers admission in fall term only. Students may only rejoin the program in the winter term if they have left the program within the last 3 years and have completed at least 9 credits, including the foundation courses SI 501 and SI 502.
There is no application fee for readmission.
