On-campus recruiting

The Career Development Office offers employers a variety of opportunities to connect with students in an effort to help you meet your recruiting needs.

Build a strong presence at the School of Information and attract top candidates through any of the following on-campus recruiting activities:

Host a presentation and connect with students

Connect with a group of School of Information students to share information about your organization in a presentation or brown bag seminar during a visit to UMSI. Consider offering a presentation in conjunction with a visit to interview students. You can consider hosting an information session for your company or participating in student organization engagement. This will allow you to connect with student leaders to participate in student-led programs such as design jams, data jams, archives blitzes, networking sessions, and career panels. These are ideal ways to build your presence on campus.

Interview on campus

Plan a visit to UMSI to interview current students for your job or internship positions. You may pre-screen resumes and select candidates to interview, offer an open sign up period to interview students who meet your criteria, or a combination of the two. If you are already recruiting through another career services office at the University of Michigan, we are happy to coordinate efforts to maximize the benefits of your visit to Ann Arbor.

Campus interview dates are available September through April. Our office offers remote interviewing options via teleconference, Skype, or video conference capabilities, if needed.

Participate in Mock Interview Days

Share your expertise while helping students prepare for their future career needs. Even if your organization is not actively recruiting at this time, connecting with students through mock interviews is a way to enhance your presence at UMSI, and help you identify possible candidates for future opportunities.

UMSI Networking Fair

Participate in this job-fair format event each spring to connect with top talent, generate awareness of your organization, and identify qualified candidates for your current and/or future recruiting needs. You will have your own table space to present to UMSI students. Gather resumes and meet students who want to learn about you!
