Plymouth District Library
The Plymouth District Library is a public library located in Plymouth, Michigan, serving a population of more than 36,000 residents. The library contains a collection of over 220,000 volumes and circulates 1,000,000 items per year. Plymouth District Library was the recipient of a 2006 National Commission on Libraries and Information Science Health Award for Libraries. It was the only library in Michigan to receive this award that distinguishes libraries' exemplary efforts to promote a healthy lifestyle in their communities.
The Plymouth District library has an internship program for students currently enrolled in library and information science programs. Students get paid, on-the-job experience in reference and readers advisory service, collection management, and programming, as well as the opportunity to learn from the library professionals on staff.
