The Career Development Office hosts the UMSI Network, a LinkedIn group of alumni who volunteer their time to provide career insights and advice to UMSI students.
Alumni are one of the best resources for assistance with “real-world” career information, leads to internships and jobs, and mentorship.
Through the UMSI Network, you are able to view a list of alumni in the system and connect with them directly. These alumni can offer you the following:
- Insight on the job search process
- An insider's perspective on a career field or a company
- Details about internships
- Suggestions for career development opportunities to pursue while at UMSI to make you more marketable
- Advice regarding the city they live in and other contacts in their industry
Start networking today by logging into your LinkedIn account, then join the University of Michigan School of Information LinkedIn group. Once approved, you can join the UMSI Network (a subgroup).
We value our alumni and want to help support you in your career development success. Alumni have access to most of the services we provide to our current students including iTrack (online recruiting system), the UMSI Network, and our library of career resources, workshops, and presentations. We invite you to explore what we have to offer.
Additionally, we offer all alumni a one-time resume review. Please send your resume to firstname.lastname@example.org for your resume consultation. We can offer individual career counseling appointments to new alumni who are within four months of their graduation date. For alumni who are beyond four months of their graduation date, the U-M Career Center offers career counseling for a lifetime. Additionally, the U-M Alumni Association offers career development support through digital career advice and professional networking opportunities.
