Chalmers touted for teaching excellence
A UMSI PhD candidate has received university-wide recognition for her teaching.
Melissa Chalmers was among 20 U-M graduate student instructors to receive a 2016 Outstanding Graduate Student Instructor Award from Rackham Graduate School. The awards recognize young scholars nominated by their programs for their excellence in teaching, mentoring and advising.
Previously, Chalmers was named UMSI Graduate Student Instructor of the Year for her teaching during the 2013-14 academic year.
Chalmers, who also has a bachelor’s degree from U-M in social anthropology, studies how media is transferred from one form to another, especially print media digitization, and the overlapping networked infrastructures supporting such work.
