MSI student awarded ALA Spectrum Scholarship

Meagan Daniels, a second year graduate student in library and information science at UMSI, has been awarded one of the highly competitive ALA Spectrum Scholarships, the American Library Association has announced.

Spectrum Scholarships are awarded based on students’ commitment to diversity, commitment to entering the library profession, demonstrated community outreach, academic ability and achievements and leadership potential.

Her scholarship is in memory of Ron Clowney, a former ProQuest executive. ProQuest is a global information-content and technology company for libraries, headquartered in Ann Arbor, and has funded over 140 ALA Spectrum Scholarships since 2001.

Of the 50 ALA Spectrum Scholarship awardees in 2014, Meagan Daniels is the only recipient from the University of Michigan.
