Tiffany Veinot appointed to new associate deanship at UMSI

Associate professor Tiffany Veinot has accepted the newly created position of Associate Dean for Faculty at the School of Information, Dean Thomas A. Finholt has announced. The position is pending Regental approval and will be effective starting September 1, 2019 if approved.

“I have created this position in recognition of both the growth of our faculty and to reflect the expansion of duties on behalf of the faculty performed by the dean’s office,” said Finholt in making the announcement.

Veinot’s responsibilities will include serving as ex officio member of the Dean’s Advisory Committee, supervising the promotion and tenure process and faculty mentoring programs, faculty awards and policies, new faculty orientation and serving as faculty search chair.

“I look forward to assuming the role of Associate Dean for Faculty, as this position will allow me to help Faculty and Postdoctoral Fellows to continue to develop and thrive at the School of Information,” Veinot said.

Tiffany Veinot has served as the director of the Master of Health Informatics program at UMSI for the past two years. Veinot is a founding faculty member of the MHI program, which was introduced in 2012.  She joined the University of Michigan as assistant professor in 2008 and in 2014 was promoted to associate professor in both UMSI and the School of Public Health, with tenure in UMSI.

This 50% appointment is effective for a five-year term.
