UMSI launches new entrepreneurship program: Startup Trek
UMSI students are known for their entrepreneurial spirit. Now there is a new resource for those interested in leading a student venture or pursuing an entrepreneurial career path. This fall marks the launch of the UMSI Startup Trek program, a new UMSI program designed to help students explore, find mentors, and develop the skills and know-how to find entrepreneurial success and pursue innovative careers.
During this one and one half day entrepreneurial immersion experience, UMSI will send 25-30 students to New York City to meet local entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, and U-M alumni over the 2013 fall break: October 14-15.
Students will be given exclusive tours of start-up companies, and will network with U-M alumni and New York-based entrepreneurs and venture capitalists. They will return to Ann Arbor with valuable feedback on their ideas, new skills and knowledge regarding an entrepreneurial career path, valuable mentors, contacts in the field, and a network of fellow UMSI student entrepreneurs.
The school will cover the cost of an average two-way airfare for a flight from Detroit (DTW) to New York City (LGA), lodging for two nights in New York City, as well as a transportation allowance that covers shuttle to and from the airport, and/or limited transportation costs to company site visits.
Students can get application information by visiting the UMSI Startup Trek NYC 2013 application form. The application deadline is September 12.
