MLive webchat on Citizen Interaction Design
The UMSI project to partner with Jackson, Mich. on citizen engagement continues to generate excitement and questions. Building on the buzz, MLive is hosting a webchat with two of the stakeholders: city councilperson Derek Dobies and project manager Scott TenBrink.
Dobies and TenBrink will field questions moderated by MLive reporter Will Forgrave at noon on Wednesday, July 17. Questions can be submitted in advance of the event by utilizing the comments section of the story, and the live chat will also take place there.
Citizen Interaction Design is a novel approach to learning that partners the local government of Jackson, Michigan with University of Michigan student teams. Together, the goal is to develop new information tools that help foster citizen engagement. Over the course of the project, the partnership plans to develop close to a dozen different information tools. While not all of them would necessarily be high-tech, they will be designed to fit the specific needs of people in Jackson.
