Alumni Profile: Miquelle Milavec

Information Policy

Originally from New Mexico, Miquelle attended high school in Saginaw, Michigan. She received her undergraduate degree in sociology from the University of Michigan in 2010 and that same year enrolled in the master’s program at UMSI.  Her specialization was Information Policy, with a particular interest in online privacy policy and information property law.

While at UMSI, she taught several semesters of the undergraduate information course SI 110, Introduction to Information Studies, and in 2011 she received the Yahoo! Graduate Student Instructor Teaching Award. In addition to teaching, she also worked as a reference assistant for the university library system and as a research and staff assistant for the Office of Human Research Compliance Review.

In her free time she enjoys snowboarding, rollerblading, and jewelry designing (necklaces, earrings), knitting, dining at her favorite restaurants, and online shopping.

Her IT internship at The Boeing Company during the summer of 2011 led to a full-time job with the company in Huntington Beach, California after graduation in 2012.
