Gabriela Marcu is an Assistant Professor in the School of Information. She directs the Empathic Research Group, which tackles challenging social problems through qualitative methods, community-based approaches, and participatory design. Her research focuses on methodologies that can build empathy for lived experiences, and engage stakeholders in equitable action and design. She designs and evaluates tools to support collaborative reflection among care teams, and behavioral interventions that can empower individuals in their own care.
