Degree: Master of Science in Information, ‘22, focusing on UX/HCI and UX Design.

Home: Detroit

Goal of organization: SIMA is the official University of Michigan School of Information student association for master’s students. There are eight elected officers from the student body: a president, vice president, treasurer, information manager, diversity coordinator, event coordinator, alumni relations officer and Master of Health Informatics (MHI) representative.

Why I’m involved: I saw some things I felt the community was missing and felt by being in leadership I could help change that, by being active and including activities that would contribute to the student body.

Membership: Every UMSI master's student is automatically a member of SIMA.

Noteworthy: Started and run by students, it is inclusive to the UMSI community with automatic enrollment for students in order to help guide and serve as their representatives throughout their time at the program.

Important events/activities: SIMA serves as the liaison to UMSI, sponsors social events, invites guest speakers, and appoints members to various school committees.

Time commitment: A few hours a week.
