Distinguish yourself for fall career fairs, internships and jobs. The 2016 UMSI New York Innovation Trek can help.

NY Trek starts with you alone. You do not need a team, an idea or any particular experience. What you DO need is an interest or passion, AND an open mind to learn, try and iterate!

NY Trek includes:
5 required workshops: Friday evenings September 16, 23, 30, October 7, 14
Trip to New York: Saturday, October 15 – Tuesday, October 18
Post-Trek celebration reception: Friday, October 21

UMSI will bring 30 students to New York City over fall break, Saturday, October 15-Tuesday, October 18. In New York, students and their mentors will meet local innovators, entrepreneurs and U-M alumni. Students will share innovations they have pursued during the workshops and engaging in high-bandwidth feedback. Participants will hear the stories of these innovators, tour their spaces and be at the top of their recruiting lists.

Following the Trek, students return to Ann Arbor with valuable feedback on their ideas, new skills, additions to their portfolios and a deeper understanding of the act of pursuing an innovation with an entrepreneurial mindset. They will have local mentors and contacts in the field and a network of fellow U-M students passionate about innovation.

Some exciting venues and hosts for this year are already confirmed, including Big Sound/Pandora, Startup Health, and Metropolis Magazine with Susan Szenasy herself!

Application Due: Saturday, September 10
Application Fee: $250, due September 12 to hold your place
Approximate Out of Pocket Costs: ~$200
Food: ~$50/day, $150 total
Transfers: Ann Arbor - DTW round trip $22
           Transfers: LaGuardia - Manhattan + MetroCard costs: $32

The fee and program support covers airfare and hotel (Chelsea Savoy, Manhattan). Participants are responsible for food, airport transfers and MetroCard to travel to and from locations.
