Health information to those in need

Assistant Professor Tiffany Veinot wants to empower chronically ill people to find the reputable information they need to improve their lives.

She is studying "Families, Illness and Information: A Longitudinal, Ethnographic Study" with the support of the Institute for Museum and Library Services.

Veinot's project investigates health information behaviors in marginalized families and communities, specifically the information networks and activities of chronically ill people and their family members and the roles they play in chronic illness-related coping, care, and support within families over time.

The research involves individual interviews, family group interviews, and family network analysis with members of families in southeast Michigan dealing with HIV/AIDS or diabetes.
