Alternative Workflows for Crowdsourced Evaluation of Misinformation

A UMSI team led by faculty members Paul Resnick and Eric Gilbert will conduct a series of studies testing three questions:

  1. How good are community judgments under several alternative community workflows? This will test the fundamental question of how good we can expect community review’s results to be.
  2. How different are general rater judgments from reference librarians’ judgments?
  3. How long after a popular link is posted is the community able to make a considered judgment? This will test the fundamental question of how often community review will fail because the community can’t judge breaking news.
