SI SpotlightJessica Lehr (MSI '01)
Posing in front of the bus made famous by civil rights pioneer Rosa Parks, who died October 24, 2005, while at her previous job at the Benson Ford Research Center in Dearborn, Michigan. What is it about preserving historical artifacts that appeals to her? "It's really exciting to be a part of things, to work on projects that take advantage of the growth of technology to change these more traditional fields," she says.

Before SI: Earned a bachelor's in English and anthropology at Wellesley College. Came to the School of Information planning to earn a degree as a school library media specialist.
At SI: Worked with the Cultural Heritage Initiative for Community Outreach (CHICO), specifically helping create the "African Presence in the Americas: 1492-1992" online exhibit with the Schomburg Center. Served as secretary to the SI chapter of the Society of American Archivists. Spent her first SI summer as an intern at the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan.
After SI: Jessica manages the editorial and cataloging staff of the Research Collections Department within the ProQuest Information & Learning Division. The department creates and catalogs a variety of interesting microfilm collections, such as Early English books, genealogy and local history, and a number of collections of Canadian government documents. Many of these collections are also digitized to create some of the popular ProQuest online products.
Previously, was manager of digital programs at the Benson Ford Research Center (part of the Henry Ford Museum), helping make available online the center's million-plus artifacts documenting American life. [read more]
