UMSI late drop/add/edit deadlines and policy
The following deadlines and policy apply to BSI, MHI and MSI students at the School of Information only. Before making enrollment changes, please connect with your program-specific advising team.

UMSI late drop/add/edit policy
The university’s drop/add/edit deadlines are posted on the U-M Office of the Registrar’s website under Student Registration Deadlines. For the late drop/add/edit deadlines, BSI, MSI and MHI students should reference the deadlines listed on this page.
Late drop
After the drop/add deadline, you may request an online late drop in Wolverine Access. A “W” (indicating withdrawal) is posted for courses dropped after the drop/add deadline, regardless of the reason for the drop.
If you are interested in dropping all of your courses at any point in the term, you must contact the UMSI Registrar Team at [email protected] and your program-specific advising team. Please see the “term withdrawal” section of the UMSI Student Handbook. Institutional tuition and fees might apply.
Late add
Adding classes after the drop/add deadline requires an online late add request in Wolverine Access. The instructor should also e-mail [email protected] to request that a seat be opened for you.
After the late drop/add/edit deadline (approximately two-thirds of the way through the semester), individual courses may not be added or dropped. However, a student with extenuating circumstances may petition to request a late add or drop. You should reach out to your program-specific advising team to discuss your situation and determine if a petition is possible.
Late edit
You may elect alternative grading in Wolverine Access through the late drop/add/edit deadline. A change in grading pattern from a letter grade to an alternative grading scheme is not permitted after this deadline. If you are eligible to submit a late edit online request form, a “request for late edit” button will display in Wolverine Access.
