This summer, I had the opportunity to work as a Healthcare Summer Associate (virtually) with Deloitte's consulting practice. I was able to gain a first-hand perspective of what is involved in consulting for a large client in the healthcare industry. Utilizing some of my knowledge from Contextual Inquiry and Consulting Foundations (SI 501), I was able to help push forward and own the restructuring of a client team operating model, helping them more efficiently carry out some of the back-end data compiling tasks completed on a daily basis. I walked away with an improved knowledge of data analysis applications within Excel, skills in professional presentation and networking and a deeper understanding of the consulting field overall. Most importantly, I gained essential experience navigating the challenges of constructing an effective client deliverable (virtually), and the essential nature of a project team in doing so.
