This past summer I interned virtually at ViacomCBS under the Nickelodeon brand working alongside the Digital Analytics team. As a Digital Analytics intern, I was able to apply many of the technical skills that I have gained through UMSI coursework in a professional setting. I’ve always had a passion for TV and digital media, and this role allowed me to combine my personal and professional interests. Within the role, I was tasked with aggregating data regarding content performance for Nickelodeon’s preschool programming on the Noggin app. Additionally, I had the opportunity to conduct an in-depth analysis of content new to Noggin, presenting key findings regarding interactive elements, character featuring and in-app positioning to executives, creatives and engineers.
Although the experience was virtual, it was apparent that the culture at ViacomCBS prioritized an investment in young talent, with managers, executives and HR actively involving interns in industry seminars, corporate town-halls and brainstorming sessions. Through the support and guidance of my manager, this experience gave me a more defined interest in media as a post-graduate career path.
