What’s your elevator pitch for your organization?
Our events serve as good networking opportunities for doctoral students. Such networking is crucial for job opportunities and collaborations in the future.
Who can become a member, and how?
All UMSI doctoral students are automatically members and are welcome to attend our events and meet and network with their peers and faculty.
What drew you in?
I wanted to volunteer and be more engaged with students, contribute to their well-being and bring the community of doctoral students together
What are your top events or activities?
I have organized the happy hour for doctoral students now for three years. The happy hour allows students to gather for a dinner at a local restaurant. It’s a great break from the monotony of work and helps people connect with other students. For instance, there is this student in my office that I had never spoken to, but we sat at the same table in the happy hour and now know each other. It serves as a good ice breaker.
What does participation look like week-to-week?
As part of the committee, we host monthly events and have regular meetings with the doctoral program staff.
As a student leader, what are you proudest of?
My contribution to improving the doctoral student experience for my peers.
