Biography

Tom is a former urban planner turned software designer. He is passionate about the intersection of data, design, and human experience. He believes in the power data has to transform the world around us and create a better future.

Tom is a Manager/Product Design Lead in a private sector software company. He leads the information design practice across all products within that organization. Previously, he worked as a manager in analytics and as a BI Developer. 

He is also a part-time adjunct professor at the University of Michigan's School of Information. He most recently taught "Introduction to Information Design and Data Visualization", a course he developed for the university. He looks forward to teaching other courses and guest lecturing at the university in the coming years.

Areas of interest

Tom is an expert in information design, data visualization, and UX product design and strategy. In addition to his professional experience in these fields, Tom is actively engaged in the growing dialog around AI and the impacts it has on products, design, and the economic and psychological impact on society.
