Tuition and funding

Tuition for the School of Information's Master of Applied Data Science online degree program reflects the quality and value expected from a Michigan education.

We offer competitive rates for both in-state and out-of-state students. Because U-M is partially state-funded, Michigan residents pay a lower rate. The rates are proposed to be the same whether students are taking classes full or part time.

2019-2020 academic year

$932 per credit for State of Michigan residents

$1,243 per credit for non-residents

+ additional fees (currently $165 a semester)

The total cost of the 34-credit degree is approximately $31,688 for in-state students and $42,262 for out-of-state students, given this year’s estimated rates before fees.

UMSI is committed to providing education to highly qualified students regardless of financial status. Unlike most online degree programs, the Master of Applied Data Science offers the opportunity for scholarships in addition to other types of financial aid. All applicants are automatically considered for scholarships up to and including the full cost of tuition.
