Description 

In the Health Informatics Capstone (SI 699), graduate students design and execute a substantial research or data analysis project. Student teams analyze their client’s real-world problem using sociotechnical and health-systems perspectives and ultimately propose an ethical, feasible and context-appropriate solution or recommendation. 

Deliverables

Deliverables vary by project and are based on client needs and project scope. Examples may include:

  • Written report
  • Final presentation
  • Implementation roadmaps for solution adoption
  • Documentation for stakeholders
  • Theoretical solution prototypes for processes, pipelines or dashboards

Client requirements

  • Level of engagement for course/program:
    • Weekly or biweekly meetings with student team
    • Regular feedback and communication to student team based on the course schedule
    • Introduction to stakeholders and users for interviews and/or data gathering
    • Access to organizational data, health data, systems and/or resources necessary to complete project
    • Attendance of final presentations 
    • Complete project evaluation
  • Special requirements for the course/program:
    • Designate a primary or secondary contact who knows and understands the data and the data infrastructure
