Biography
Shannon Gass is the Assistant Director of Academic Success & Student Support at the University of Michigan School of Information. In this role, she leads initiatives that support student success, academic standing, critical student case management, and peer tutoring. Shannon launched the UMSI Care Referral and the Academic Success & Student Support team in 2023, which has expanded resources and support for students across personal, academic, financial, and well-being needs. Shannon previously worked as the academic advisor for the UMSI MADS program before launching the Academic Success & Student Support team. Before joining UMSI, Shannon held student support and academic advising roles at Madonna University, where she worked with first-year students, transfer students, and business school students.
Her professional interests include holistic student support, first-generation college student success, orientation and transition programs, mentorship, and critical student case management. Shannon holds an MA in Higher Education Administration from Madonna University and a BS in Business Administration from Wayne State University.
