School of Information Graduate Recognition Ceremony

Cap and gown are NOT REQUIRED for the School of Information Graduate Recognition Ceremony.  In recent years, many students have chosen to wear the cap and gown to the UMSI ceremony. Be advised that at the spring commencement, faculty will be attired in regalia and there will be photo opportunities during the reception. The hood and tassel color for the Master of Science in Information and Master of Applied Data Science is lemon yellow. The hood and tassel color for the Master of Health Informatics is silver-gray.

University Graduate Exercises (Rackham) and University-wide Commencement

Cap and gown ARE REQUIRED for graduates who plan to participate in the University Graduate Exercises and/or the University-wide Commencement.

Donation of attire

If you purchase your own attire, please consider donating it to the School of Information for future graduates. There will be a drop-off station available immediately following the ceremony.

Doctoral degree recipients

Doctoral degree recipients are responsible for providing their hoods, caps and gowns. This attire may be found at the Barnes and Noble Bookstore or Ulrich's Bookstore.
