As we approach the upcoming elections, we recognize that this time can bring a mix of emotions—anticipation, anxiety, excitement, and more. To provide a supportive space for our community, regardless of election outcomes, we invite you to a Post-Election Community Space.

This circle is a space for everyone to share their thoughts and feelings or simply connect with others after the election, free from judgment or pressure. There are no expectations for expertise or formed opinions—your level of participation is entirely up to you.

Participants are encouraged to reflect on their experiences related to the following prompts:

  • What are you feeling at this moment/lately?
  • What emotions or thoughts do the elections bring up for you?
  • What coping strategies have you found helpful as you process the results of the election?

Join OCC as we create a culture of empathy and solidarity within our UMSI community. We’ll provide light refreshments, coloring pages, and support resources, along with a welcoming atmosphere to connect and decompress after the elections.

We look forward to seeing you there!

What are Circles of Solidarity?

UMSI Circles of Solidarity are co-created spaces, held regularly, where UMSI faculty, students and staff can bring their whole selves to come together and engage in meaningful conversation and activities. Themes vary and may emerge in response to local, global, or national events.

As with all UMSI Circles of Solidarity, this is not a therapy group, but a space to build community, practice mutual care, and engage in meaningful conversation. We recognize that conversations about loss and remembrance can bring up many different emotions. For any reason, you can choose to take a break or to leave the circle at any time. You are always welcome to participate in whatever way feels comfortable for you including artistic mediums, written thoughts, gestures, and verbal contributions. Support resources are also shared as part of every circle.
We welcome you to review the community guidelines ahead of the event or as you arrive at the event.

RSVP appreciated, but not required.
