Gilbert: Reddit under increasing pressure to moderate harmful content

Like many social media platforms, Reddit is attempting to moderate misinformation, hate speech and conspiracy theories on its platform.
An article by Wired discusses Reddit CEO Steve Huffman’s thoughts on regulation and how the platform has changed since its inception.
University of Michigan School of Information associate professor Eric Gilbert, an expert on hate speech and moderation, says Reddit’s newest regulations make sense in today’s context.
“These are pretty, you know, commonsense, straightforward things to do,” he says. “These would have been kind of unthinkable moderation decisions in 2015, 2016.”
