Julie Darling on finding your niche and cultivating a lifetime of learning
Thursday, 04/14/2022
Julie Darling describes herself as a voracious reader. As a kid, she loved visiting the Ann Arbor Public Library with her mom and checking out as many books as they’d let her.
It’s no surprise to anyone that Julie went on to pursue her Master of Science in Information at the University of Michigan School of Information. Today, Julie is inspiring the next generation of changemakers and innovators with her makerspace expertise as media specialist at A2 STEAM, a K-8 school that utilizes project-based learning for instruction. At A2 STEAM, Julie helps kids find their love of learning through hands-on projects and an engaging library curriculum.
At UMSI, Julie pursued her dream of becoming a librarian. Through internships and conferences supported by UMSI, Julie laid the foundation for a successful career.
When you immerse yourself in your field and learn everything you can about it, you’ll also figure out your niche. There’s nothing more exciting than being able to contribute your thoughts and experiences so others can benefit from your unique perspective.
