Wednesday, 05/24/2023

New research by University of Michigan School of Information assistant professor Misha Teplitskiy finds that conference presentations are more likely to get cited and “stimulate substantial direct and serendipitous diffusion of ideas.”

Teplitskiy’s research is featured in an article by Nature discussing the importance of in-person academic conferences and their impact on scholarship.

Attending a talk is “really, really effective” for increasing the chance that researchers will cite the work, says Teplitskiy.
