An example of one of the backgrounds in use

With so many classes and meetings moving online, Zoom's "virtual background" feature is quickly catching on. The feature allows users of the video conferencing app to trade their real-life backgrounds for settings like a tropical beach, a cityscape or even the moon!

Since the Zoom backgrounds are customizable, the UMSI Marketing and Communications team created some downloadable options to put you back in your favorite Ann Arbor spots. Take your conference calls from North Quad, give your presentation from the Matthaei Botanical Gardens or attend your online class from the Michigan Stadium!

To use the backgrounds:

Simply click any of the photos below to open the full image, then right click and choose "Save Image As" to save it to your computer. (Be sure to open the image first. If you save directly from the web page, the image will be cut off when it appears as your background.)

Next, while in a Zoom meeting, click the up arrow next to "Stop Video" and select “Choose Virtual Background.” You will see a selection of default options, and next to the Choose Virtual Background heading, you’ll see a "+". Click it to upload your selection. Your new background is all set!

Click next to "Stop Video," then select "Choose Virtual Background"
Select the "+" sign to add more backgrounds.
