Philanthropic priorities

Support from donors makes a UMSI education possible for students with the potential to become leaders in information science. These are the areas where philanthropic support is most needed.

UMSI Annual Fund

This flexible fund supports the highest priorities that arise within the UMSI community throughout the year. Gifts to the Annual Fund allow UMSI to say “yes” to engaged learning opportunities like Alternative Spring Break and study abroad, and to enrich students’ education by bringing thought leaders to campus.

UMSI Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Fund

Gifts to the DEI Fund equip UMSI’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Office with the funding they need to advance their goal of expanding and supporting diversity within the UMSI community. Students can also apply to use these funds for student-led DEI activities. This support helps create a welcoming, accepting, anti-racist environment for UMSI students, faculty and staff.

UMSI Go Blue Graduate Scholarship Fund

This fund provides four semesters of tuition and fees in UMSI’s Master of Science in Information program or Master of Health Informatics program to selected students who received or qualified for U-M’s Go Blue Guarantee as undergraduates. This scholarship builds on the success of the UMSI Graduate Guarantee, a two-year pilot program that was the first of its kind at U-M. Through this fund, we continue our commitment to making graduate school affordable for more Michigan residents. Read student stories here.

UMSI Undergraduate Scholarship Fund

This fund provides scholarship support to undergraduate students enrolled at UMSI. Often, scholarship support is what enables a student to receive an education at U-M and allows them to pursue opportunities outside of the classroom that may have otherwise been out of reach.
