Attend an information session

We encourage every student interested in exploring an undergraduate degree at the School of Information to attend an information session. You will receive an engaging and comprehensive overview of the program, as well as guidance for the application process. Sessions are hosted on different days and times to accommodate as many students as possible, and you only need to attend one session before you apply. 

These information sessions are tailored based on your application pathway — please select the session that describes you:

Current U-M student (Cross-campus transfer)

If you are a student on the UM-Ann Arbor campus and are interested in starting the BSI program as a sophomore or junior, join one of the information sessions below to learn more. Please register to receive the Zoom link.

Student at another institution (New transfer) 

If you are transferring from a community college or another four-year institution, join one of the information sessions below to learn more. Please register to receive the Zoom link.

Current high school student (Preferred admit)

If you are a high school student interested in UMSI, join one of the sessions below to explore the BSI program and learn how preferred admission works.

Ask a student ambassador

We offer "Ask an Ambassador" sessions with current students to help you learn more about the program. You will receive information from a student’s perspective, as well as guidance on deadlines and application requirements. Student ambassadors are not able to provide advising about schedules — for those questions, please contact the admissions team at [email protected]

Schedule an appointment:

  • Mondays 1-2:30 p.m. ET: 2nd year, user experience design, dual-degree student, has done an internship
  • Tuesdays noon-1:30 p.m. ET: 1st year, user experience design, dual-degree student
  • Thursdays 1:30-3 p.m. ET: 1st year, user experience design student
  • Fridays 2-3:30 p.m. ET: 1st year, information analysis student

Ask a transfer student ambassador

If you are thinking of transferring to UMSI from another institution, you have the option to meet with one of our transfer student ambassadors. These are current students who have been in your shoes. They can help you understand the transfer process from a student’s perspective and review your materials to prepare for the application process. Transfer student ambassadors are not able to provide information regarding your required prerequisites — for those questions, please contact the admissions team at [email protected].
