Credit-based internship courses

Credit-based internship courses allow BSI and MSI students to earn academic credit while engaging in an approved internship. Students gain practical hands-on experience at their internship while also taking part in reflective-based learning to make meaning of their experience and how it impacts their future career goals.

Students must work with the UMSI Career Development Office in advance of starting work on an internship in order to confirm that it will meet requirements for credit and to obtain permission to register. CDO staff instruct all credit-based internship courses.

SI 390 - Internship

This course is a supplemental educational opportunity for BSI students to receive academic credit for the work being completed in a summer internship capacity. In this course, students will develop learning objectives, complete a post-internship reflective assignment and design an internship learning portfolio demonstrating internship outcomes. This course will support students' ability to derive deeper meaning from an integrated learning experience with the potential to contribute to life-long career development.
